The Sum Of Its Parts by [personal profile] unadrift (post)

You have got another three weeks to fill in the gaps (i.e. episodes/stories you used your wildcards for). Final deadline is February 21. (Not February 2, as I apparently stated in my entry last week. Sorry about that!)

And about the future of this community:

I've been asked if this community is going to be closed down now that the series is over. The answer is: no, of course not! As long as you keep writing and reading episode-related SGA fic, and post or rec it here, this place will be up and running. Also, there's probably movies to come!

And even if there weren't, this is too good a resource to be shut down. This community has become what I hoped to create when I was struck by the idea. I think this is the right place and time to say: Thank you all for joining up, for participating, and making this community what it is now!

Because femslash stories are rare findings compared to the numerous m/m slash fics, [livejournal.com profile] bluflamingo suggested the introduction of a femslash tag to this community. The idea was adopted and is implemented as of now.

*femslash tag, meet the community. Community, meet the *femslash tag.

Use this tag for your new femslash entries. (This of course means that the *slash tag is now exclusively for m/m fics around here.)

Also use the opportunity to go back and re-tag your old femslash entries, or if you know of one that was posted by someone else, drop a comment here mentioning author, title, and episode of the fic, and I will do the re-tagging.

ETA: Sign-ups are closed now!

Sign up for the [livejournal.com profile] sga_episodefic Season Five Tagathon now! Write and post a tag/missing scene/AU for every episode of the fifth season of Stargate Atlantis!

Taking into account the feedback we got for our previous announcement, the rules have been slightly revised. )

Now let the new season begin!

In light of the upcoming Season 5 of Stargate Atlantis (Yes! YES!) we're planning to start the shiny new [livejournal.com profile] sga_episodefic Tagathon.
Should you decide to sign up for this, your mission would be to write a tag/missing scene/au for every episode of this long-awaited season of SGA.

We're still working on the details. )

Tell us what you think? Fill out the poll? )

Do you have any further comments, suggestions, ideas? Drop us a line! Depending on the response, there will be a signing-up post soon!

Even if you're not too involved in this (like me) you've probably encountered the odd post about the LJ advisory board representative elections. It may or may not have driven you to go and vote.

If you're invested in fandom (which as members of this community you very probably are) you really should place your vote. Because fandom needs a representative on the LJ advisory board!

Currently, someone who openly opposes pro-fandom candidates appears to have the best chances of winning. See this open letter to all fandom comm moderators and all members of fandom for good reasons to go and vote, because I couldn't explain it better.

You can find information on the pro-fandom candidates on [livejournal.com profile] fandom_votes, and you can place your vote here.

Also: please, spread the word!

ETA: Clearly, fandom voted, because [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy won!
It's clearly taken too long, but here it is: the first masterlist of [livejournal.com profile] sga_episodefic, with every story listed that's been rec'd or posted here from the beginning until right now. Title, author, and reccer are mentioned, and there's a link to the rec or fic post included.

To the list )

ETA: Thank you for the comments! Yes, this has been quite some work, but more often than not I was distracted into reading the fics you all rec'd and posted here, so I'm giving back the thanks to you all.

Read the newly added challenge rules in our user info.

You voted yourselves a Thirty-Eight Minutes challenge! Here goes:

"I hate those bugs."

Yeah, John, we know that.

The Wraith inject their victims with the enzyme to keep them alive as long as possible. Isn't it safe to assume the Iratus bug does something similar to John, given their close genetic relation?

If John is injected with a bug enzyme the aftereffects are anybody's guess. Well, actually, we make them yours!

Will John go renegade like Ford did in The Siege? Go all aggressive like Ronon and Teyla in The Lost Boys, or strung out and manic like Rodney in The Hive? Or will heretofore unknown effects befall him?

I'm curiously awaiting entirely new enzyme insights...

The Aftereffects Challenge (tag :c:aftereffects) will be open until Sunday, March 2, 2008.

New challenge suggestions are very welcome, just comment here.

It's been pointed out that it feels weird to post a fic here -- to a reccing community. Let me emphasize: This is neither an exclusive rec, nor an exclusive fic community. In order to organize as many episode-related stories as possible, it is open for both. But, in fact, we're going to go the writer's way here today.

In about a week's time we're planning to open our first writing challenge. The prompt will be episode related (duh!) starting out with an episode with no fic or rec listed here up to now. The link below will lead you to a poll where you can pick the episode you'd like to write/read about from a selection of fifteen such episodes. The actual challenge will be a bit more specific than "Write for episode XY", though.

Every story that fits the challenge, regardless of genre or rating, will be accepted. A specific challenge tag will allow you to view all the entries. You'll also be able to post the usual fics and recs for the duration of the challenge. (Detailed rules follow later.)

Vote here. ) Voice your opinion or input on this in a comment.

It's been a little more than a week since we went online. Thanks to all you members for joining and posting! Hopefully, even more people will join us; help spread the word on your LJs, pimp us, lure them over!

I'm thinking, the occasion calls for a round of statistics!

We're currently counting 139 members, 236 watchers, and 105 stories. Not bad for the first week!

The 105 entries in detail )

Several episodes are already represented by quite a number of stories. The winners at the moment are Conversion and Quarantine (eight posts each), closely followed by Grace Under Pressure, Tao of Rodney, and Miller's Crossing (seven posts each).

Thirty-four episodes aren't represented at all up to now.

Episode relation in detail )

Please, check your bookmarks, comb through your hard drive, give us the good stuff you might dig up to fill in the blanks.

I've already found some amazing fic by your entries, which is telling me that this really works. I'm hoping there will be more in the future!

For starters, [profile] tacit_uk and I have posted our own sixty-odd episode-related recs here, with some much appreciated help from [personal profile] dodificus.

For now, everything is leaning heavily towards slash, specifically McKay/Sheppard. What can I say? It's our poison.

But really, [community profile] sga_episodefic is open for all episode-related fanfic, no matter the genre or pairing. Post and recommend all you like, but first: Learn about purpose and guidelines in our user info.

I hope we can all turn this into a place to go for finding episode-related SGA fanfic. Me, I'm so looking forward to it!

As a final note, I would like to thank my copilot [livejournal.com profile] tacit_uk for her unending enthusiasm, the many helpful discussions, and overall awesomeness. Without her, this puddlejumper wouldn't have made it off the ground!
