Because there's no way he should have done this. Because leaving aside the fact Rodney is a guy, he's also Rodney, and that's just...John can't really find a good comparison beyond like taking on a hive ship with nothing but a peashooter.
Not that John hasn't done some reckless things, time and again, but this just takes the effing cake.
Recommended because...
John's self-denial is so in tune with his character, and Rodney just gets him, like only Rodney can. And seriously, who doesn't want to see how John and Rodney take Ronon and Teyla shopping in San Francisco?
